weekend whirl

it's been a crazy weekend.
sunny's been sick all weekend, starting on friday with a high fever and a last-minute trip to the doctor. people have been dropping like flies all over the place around here recently, with the flu, strep, and nasty colds that lodge in your chest and sent at least two people i know to the emergency room. so far, praise God, our family has been mostly spared - except for this bug sunny picked up somewhere last week, i guess, which has knocked him out for three solid days now. we dose him with medicine and let him eat jello and watch (carefully selected and monitored) TV, reminiscent of our own childhood sicknesses. tonight for the first time he felt a little cooler to the touch, so maybe we're over the hump.

this weekend also included a trip downtown to see U2-3d, a concert-style 3d movie in the imax theatre featuring (you guessed it) u2. we were supposed to go together and meet my friend amy, in town for a couple of days from chicago, and a few of jon's high schoolers he's trying to convert to the band. then real life hit us in the form of sunny's sickness, and we had to decide which one of us would stay home and play nurse, and which one of us would go down and have some nightlife in the form of 3d glasses. i won out, primarily because i never get to see amy and this was my only chance. i did really enjoy the show, though - and so did the highschoolers, who saved us seats and picked up our tickets. :)
i also was the lucky girl who got to go to church this morning while jon stayed home. set up without his help is a bit of a bear, but i had friends to help, so i survived. and i also went alone with sailor to a dinner at a friend's house tonight.
i need a weekend from my weekend.
it really all flew by so quickly it doesn't seem at all like it should be sunday night. and honestly i enjoyed most of it, in spite of sunny being sick. the weather was absolutely beautiful, i got to spend time with lots of friends, and see bono really really close up. now, how can you beat that? ;)
