pretty decent thursday

so today was a pretty decent day.* thursdays are my angel days, when i get to have just sailor for a couple of hours in the morning while sunny goes to school. so between dropping sunny off at nine and having my girls' lunch out with leslie at 11:30, i have - gasp - free time. kind of. i guess free if you mean free to do all of the things i can't seem to manage to do during my normal life. and the danger of this is that i plan a million things for those brief couple of hours, and end up tired and frustrated by the end of them. there is only so much one can cram into that time, and doing a whole week's worth of sunday school prep, cleaning the house, doing the laundry, and running "just a few" errands - just doesn't work. but every week i (in intense denial) continue look forward to thursdays as my "get things done" day. i make long lists filled with beautiful and productive goals.... i really enjoy the whole planning process as much as the day itself, i think.
so today fell middle of the line for productivity - meaning that i didn't get the laundry folded or the bathroom cleaned, but i did manage to make it to kinkos - something i've been trying to do for over a month now. (just as a side note, i also had the bank, the library, the post office, and old navy on my list.)
and sunny wasn't too crazy when he woke up, and sailor wasn't too fussy when she went down. and jon got to be home for part of the night (until he got a phone call that he was late for a church board meeting he didn't know he had). so i haven't anything to complain about, except that the mountain of laundry on top of my dryer (the holding place for all clean - and sometimes all dirty - clothes) is no smaller than it was at the beginning of the day.
but there's always next thursday.

*man, that sounds bland. a pretty decent day.
you know what? i don't care. maybe some people have super-fantastic days several times a week. me, i settle for not horrible. pretty decent works great for me. :)
