some days are just golden. the weather is beautiful, things go as well as (or better than) you planned, and everything falls together just so. maybe it was because i had jon home after a few days of absence.... maybe it was because sunny was on an even keel.... or because we got our tax refund :)... or because i had a small burden lifted.... or maybe it was an echo of celebration of my sister's 30th birthday (happy birthday, my dear), which she spent in austria eating yummy desserts and exploring a new city..... in any case, i laughed a lot today, and felt filled.
last night i gave sunny ten minutes to bath time. he asked about the clock, i think because he's connecting time to the clock and the clock hands. he has a big clock on his wall with large black numbers. i told him that he had until the "1." he asked if he could have until the big zero ("10") - i said no, because it was a full 50 minutes away. :) after some intense negotiation, we agreed on a number. then he clambered up on his window seat and stared across the room at the clock.
"what are you doing?" leslie and i asked him (jon was gone, and leslie - bless her heart - came over to hang with us and keep us all three company).
"i watch clock," was his reply. we both started laughing. "don't you want to play?" i asked.
"no, i just watch clock. you watch clock, too," he added to leslie, patting the space beside him. and he crossed his dangling legs and the ankles and stared at the clock.
it gave a new meaning to keeping an eye on the time.
not to mention it was darn funny. ;)
so we all sat and watched the clock until it was time for bath. sunny was very entertained by the clock, and we were very entertained by him. and a good time was had by all.
