romance and a nebulizer

tonight jon and i were supposed to go out for valentines. we can't go monday (no sitter, and work the next day), and we can't go sunday, so we opted for tonight.
a couple of problems.
one, silver is still sick, and the steroid the dr. prescribed today for her nebulizer was not available at the first pharmacy i tried this afternoon. so when jon got home and was ready to go out, i still needed to find a way to fill her prescription,
two, i hadn't made reservations, or even decided where i wanted to go. (this may seem like a big oversight, but trust me, life is crazy - and this was low on the priority list.)
three, JON started feeling sick this afternoon.

so here we are at six on a friday night in austin, with nowhere to go, a prescription to fill, and a sneezing, sniffling husband.

we did still have my parents to watch the kids, which was a huge plus.

what did we end up doing for our romantic valentines date?

driving around until we found a pharmacy that could fill silver's prescription. leaving it to be filled while we ordered take out from pei wei and waited to get it. heading back to the pharmacy to pick up the meds (and some nyquil for jon). heading home.

all of which took about two hours. we arrived home in time to eat our chinese while we watched max and ruby with the kids.

this is NOT DEPRESSING, people.
know why?

because jon and i had two solid hours (most of it in the car, and all of it uninterrupted) to talk and be together. that's all i really wanted; just to be with him alone. i didn't need a fancy restaurant or my cute black heels (although i did have them on. eat your heart out, walgreens). all i needed was my husband. (sneezes and all.)

it's true. and i love it.

happy valentine's day, everyone.
(and i apologize for the background. i only have three days left to get it in. ;)
