rainy days

i think i have several blog posts called rainy days. you know, the days when it rains. all day. when it has probably been raining all week. and your kids start running laps around the house. (if it's my house, the younger one is screaming at the top of her lungs while the older one yells, "i'm a LION! i'm going to EAT you!")
so we went out to target. (so they could run down the aisles, apparently. at least there's a little more space.) and i decided that it might be fun to choose something to do at home while our wet weather lasts.
so we got moon sand.
have you heard of this stuff? it is like slightly damp, colored, very fine sand that you can mold into different shapes. i splurged and got one themed kit for each of them - sunny picked the dinosaur molds, compete with fossils and little paleontologist pick, and sailor chose the puppy dogs with the food bowl and bone.
it was an enormous mess, even though i sat them at the kitchen table and made them try to work on cookie sheets.
they did enjoy it immensely, even if they had a difficult time making the molds themselves. sunny especially liked ramming his pick into everything. :)
but the funniest thing was that my daughter - you remember, the one who wouldn't eat the pea? - decided that while she can't eat vegetables, she would really like to try moon sand.
"YUCK!" i heard from across the room. and then she licked her lips.

next time maybe i will sprinkle moon sand on the pea. :)
