the whiner and the wailer

an apology up front to my mom, who says that reading my blog will give sunny complexes when he's older. sunny, dear, you are the sunshine of my life. but you are not perfect. you are three.
and your sister is barely 18 months.
and now i have special new nicknames for the two of you.
sailor hasn't been feeling well the last couple of days. how can i tell? you ask. well, if the cruddy nose wasn't a dead giveaway, my normally even-tempered daughter has taken to throwing enormous tantrums over nothing at all. screaming, sobbing tantrums that last for 10 minutes or more. she is inconsolable - even skittles, my absolutely baddest mommy last resort, fail to bring a stop to the tears. so she may have an ear infection. and I may have a burst eardrum, if i can't figure out what's going on soon!!
sunny has also been fighting a cold. so he's more tired than usual, which brings out the worst in him. the worst in my adorable boy? you ask. it's that high pitched, nasally WHINE about everything that isn't perfect in his world. mommmy!! he fusses. "my train track is BROKEN!" and if i don't respond immediately, the pitch and volume escalate.
or, "MOMMY! my juice is gone!" "MOMMY! i want that toy SAVOR has!!"

so i may take to wearing earplugs around the house for a few days. just to preserve my hearing.
and my sanity. ;)
