life has come at me full force this week. i'm quite exhausted by the first week of school (s and s are even more tired than i am), a full-blown week of soccer season for jon (this fall he will be away an average of three nights each week), and the normal, run-of-the mill responsibilities that seem to eat up every other minute of the day.
i'm constantly surprised at the amount of responsibility involved in being an adult. there are all of the small things, like renewing the registration on the cars and getting the oil changed... mowing and weeding the yard... taking care of the fire ants in the kitchen (which we did by getting any traps, which rosie (the dog) proceeded to devour while i was at school on tuesday)... and cleaning the floors. which i actually didn't do this week, as i realized when the bottoms of sailor's feet were dirty - and she'd just been running around the house barefoot all morning!!! ugh!!
the last few weeks of summer have been a little long, but i'd forgotten the sheer busy-ness that comes with being back at work. i need to readjust my schedule, make new timelines... and find time to clean the floors.
oh, well. it's only the first week. i give us all three weeks, at least, to get into the swing of things. then we'll see.
but when i fastened sunny into his carseat after school on friday, he looked at me (tiredly :) and said, " mommy, i just can't wait to go back to school. i can't wait to go back!"
that makes it all worth it. :)
