sailor has a very sweet habit these days. she puts one of her tiny soft hands on either side of my face, and very gently guides me to look directly at her. then she wants to carry on a conversation. it goes something like this: "na la baba in da MAMA?" to which i reply, "yes, baby?" "insa lala MAMA?" "yes, baby?"
well, you get the picture. i was talking to one of her teachers about it today, and she suggested that sailor is just wanting my full, undivided attention. so she physically makes sure i am looking right at her while she communicates.
i have so many conflicting pulls on my life right now. even if it's just the pull between my two children. i really want to make sure that i 1)don't lose focus on the most important things in my life (which do not, alas, include emptying the dishwasher or reading a yahoo news update) and 2) give each of my children the undivided attention they need, when they need it.
after all, i desperately want a teenage sailor to stand in front of me, with both hands on my face, desiring nothing less than a heart-t0-heart conversation.
(of course, hopefully at that point it will make a little more sense than it does now. :)

Her teenage vocabulary may be larger, but I doubt it'll actually make more sense.... :)
Great post.
yeah, that was my thought, too. ;)
