today was one of the hard ones. some days just crash and burn for me - not sure how, or why - but the why's don't matter so much as the struggle just to HOLD IT IN - and not take it out on anyone near and dear to me - especially my sweet two year old, whose transgressions are no greater than usual (coloring on the table, chasing the cats), just magnified by my mood. let me tell you, it's tough work. one of the hardest things, i think, about parenting, is the struggle to keep your cool in the face of stacks of dishes, piles of laundry, and whining children. i don't always succeed. i don't yell, or, God forbid, lash out in any way, but i do speak more firmly, and maybe more often, than i should. i expect perfection where i shouldn't.
hmm.... that sounds like a reflection of myself.... what's it called... transference?
sunny loves to sing these days. i swear, it's the sweetest thing, it brings me almost to tears (of hysterical laughter, usually). his repertoire consists of the itsy bitsy spider, twinkle, twinkle, little star, jingle bells, and the abc's. he kind of shouts the words - there is very little melody or enunciation, so if you don't know what you're listening for you may not hear it. but one of my favorite things is his own personal version of the abc's (he can sing them correctly, but he likes this better). i hear this all day (sing it to yourself to get the full effect):
ABCDEF TRUCKS HIJKLMNO TRUCKS QR TRUCKS TU TRUCKS W TRUCKS Y and TRUCKS now i know my AB TRUCKS next time won't you sing with TRUCKS.
ha! eat your heart out, pavaratti! ;)

Oh, the love affair with trucks. Imagine when he grows to love people that much. He's going to be such a sweet, devoted friend.
