sunny has been begging to go to the austin zoo for weeks now. so this morning we loaded up our backpack with a picnic lunch and lots of cold water, and headed to south austin.
i love our tiny little rescue zoo. i must admit, though, i love it much more when it's not 95 and humid....
what's not to like about a zoo that has lions, tigers, and bears - oh, my! - as well as a truly enormous rooster and a one-eyed housecat?

all packed up and ready to go! (evidence of my compulsive overpacking: our wagon had dora books, a huge backpack, and sailor's pink one-eyed kitty backpack - full of polly pockets. i guess in case she got bored with the tigers.)
