cheaper by the dozen

some days i sit down at the computer with a pretty good idea of what i'm going to write about. those are the days where something especially interesting or cute or memorable has happened, and it's easy to write. other days i don't have something specific from that day, but i have an ongoing list to pull from - quotes i've written down, ideas to flesh-out, etc - almost like writing a magazine or newspaper column, where you have to keep fresh ideas to hand.
other nights, like tonight, i'm merely tired and blank-minded. my ideas list is drained, and it has been a long day. these are the nights it's most difficult to sit and write anything at all, to expose my lack of blindingly brilliant storylines (like the meringue fiasco. what excitement. what intrigue. ;)

we did meet a family with ten kids at the park today. there are one set of twins, i think. the parents are around my age (how very, very strange that is), and live in a house that backs up to the park. they know our neighbors across the street, so i'd heard of them, but never met them... nice people, but bizarre to have so many children running around. and they homeschool (in case you hadn't guessed). it made me want to have more kids. not ten. but more. and then he patted her stomach and said, "and here's number 11." yes, they are pregnant with another one. they were watching for reaction, i think. they must get all kinds all of the time. i just smiled and congratulated them.
i mean, what else do you say? "are you insane?" that's not very polite.
and i am nothing if not polite.
and tired.
polite and tired.
that's it for tonight, folks.
good night.
