and repeat

Last week I enrolled Sailor and Sunny in Sterling for next year.  That means instead of one homeschooler on Wednesdays and Fridays, I'll have two at home to teach.  I'm a little nervous and a little excited and very certain this is what I want to do. we have always said we would take this one year at a time, but i had no hesitation when re-enrollment came around (and it came around early)!
overall, i am loving teaching sunny at home.  the main problems arise, as i had thought they might, when his emotions get the better of him - and he gets sullen or frustrated, usually with me.  but most days are sweet and special, and i love the extra time with him and the great flexibility.  plus, we get to do some really fun projects - like painting a real flag for antarctica (although i didn't realize the acrylic fabric paints would NOT COME OFF my linoleum in the kitchen) or, last week, building our own multicolored ice building when we studied the hotel de glace in canada.  (if you don't know what it is, look it up.  pretty incredible).
or today, when i dropped sunny off for jon's physics class, because he was building an electromagnet with his highschoolers  - and sunny was studying magnets at school last week.
i also take a little secret pleasure in knowing that kindergarten didn't mean an end to special time at home with him... in fact, we spend more time together this year than before, since he was in preschool four mornings a week last year!
so i signed sailor up for the fall, and got to listen to sunny tell her all about what a great time she was going to have at "his school" next year.
smiles all around - especially for me.

That is awesome. It sounds like it's been such a great fit for all of you. Bummer about the linoleum though! Yeeks!
