silver has been sick.  very sick, possibly the longest and worst sick we have had in our house to date.  it was definitely the highest fever we've had to deal with, which at 105.6 in the middle of the night last week almost sent me to the emergency room!  the temperature slowly dwindled, leaving in its wake a mouth full of extremely painful sores that made it impossible to eat, drink, or even sleep.  a SECOND trip to the doctor yielded a diagnoses of oral herpes - the virus that causes cold sores (and apparently really really high fevers).  i came  away from that appointment triumphantly clutching a prescription for tylenol with codeine "for extreme pain," which  got us a few more hours of sleep and some sippies of milk.
better than nothing.
but we have been tired - so tired - both from not sleeping and from dealing with a two year old who is in pretty near constant pain.  and life goes on, you know, in spite of sickness, and you still have to take out the trash and get the laundry done and help your kindergartener make a poster about antarctica.  (but not help him too much, you understand.  just enough that it looks like you helped... just enough.)
and it looks like we may be headed out the other side of this, finally, 12 days later.  so i made myself write - not because anyone might read it, but just because the exercise of writing involves some return to the orderliness and normalcy of life. i like my routines, thank you very much.
(and thanks to the codeine, too.  i have never been such a fan of a controlled substance in all my life! :)

Oh my goodness. I knew you were dealing with illness, but had no idea it was so serious! Praising God she's doing so much better & praying for complete healing for her & refreshment for you & Jon.
