last weekend, silver spent time splashing in lake georgetown. this weekend, she spent time in the emergency room
all i could think about, when i drove her to the hospital on friday night, was:
three kids, six years, one er trip.
that's not bad!
what is bad, though, is getting impaled by a blue plastic child's clothes hanger under your tongue.
it's also bad when, on your arrival to dell children's hospital via ambulance (after three hours at the closer - but non-pediatric - hospital), they greet you by saying, "oh, YOU'RE the ones with the hanger."
who knew that if you fall down while holding a plastic hanger, the hook part could get jammed into your mouth, creating laceratons behind your bottom teeth and a good-sized hole under your tongue? i couldn't pull it out when i first ran over to her where she sat screaming on the ground.
apparently, though, the mouth heals quickly. no stitches for the baby girl, just a follow-up visit to an oral surgeon tomorrow and some amoxicillin to prevent infection. and a long and traumatic night at two different hospitals, a ride in an ambulance (she loved every minute of it), and a really great - and disgusting - story.
and truly, it could have been so much worse.
if you are reading this wondering why you haven't heard this story first hand, i apologize. my total sleep in the last two nights combined is hovering around seven hours.
i will be sure to keep you posted, though!
