any time

i LOVED sailor's two-year-old teacher last year. (she was sunny's, too! :) i had the pleasure of working with her in her classroom a couple of times. and one of the routines she had was to have the kids pray before lunch.
it went something like this:
ms. amy would ask, "what is prayer?"
and all of the little twos would answer, "talking to God!"
and she would say, "and we can talk to God..."
"ANY TIME!" they would all shout, and laugh.
then she would pray a short prayer for the food and the kids, and that was that.

but this little mantra has stuck with sailor. she has recently been wanting to "talk to God." and in her three-year-old mind, "talking to God" sounds nothing like the prayers we are used to.

"dear God," she prayed yesterday in her sweet tiny voice, "i made a pretty bracelet with my friend today. i really like it. do you like it? amen."

"dear God," she said tonight, as she was getting out of the bath, "i am going to have some chocolate milk and watch my show. then i am going to be tired and go to bed. amen."

"God likes it when i talk to him," she confided.

and you know what, sailor raine? i like it, too. ;)

ADORABLE! We all need to talk to God like that.

I love that! Chickie's prayers are quite "informational" too. "I like that painting" might be a prayer. It's awesome. :)
