hello! i am alive, never doubt it. you would think the first week of summer for me would be relaxing, but we have had summer colds (how ridiculous), school work days, and, on a more positive note, a visit from mimi and gramps! all of which left me without much time to write.
among things of note over the last week:
-silver got yet another ear infection. and, when we called to ask blue cross why they weren't paying for her doctor bills, discovered that for some reason they are considering her ear infections a PRE-EXISTING CONDITION. and that since we started coverage with them in january, any ear-related visits won't be covered until the end of june. we are appealing, but i don't know that we'll get anywhere. and i am utterly awestruck the the absolute stupidity of calling ear infections (the first of which didn't take place until february under the new coverage) "pre-exisiting." so.
-i wrapped up another year at the preschool with a workday and a luncheon. no more school until september! i am a little sad.
-jon and i decided to get a family membership to our ymca for the summer. they have free childcare when you're on site (including a two-story indoor playground for the kids), free classes (we already went to yoga once!), and a cool pool with slides and a sprinkler area. i'm only hoping we have the time to take advantage of it all!
-mimi and gramps came and left in a whirlwind of special time and play. two days wasn't really long enough, but we will see them again - in tucson this time! - in a few short weeks.
-jon finished his year with graduation, and a bonfire at paintball that lasted until almost four in the morning. it's been a long year for him; i think he's looking forward to the summer. although as i write this, he is out putting sod in the front yard....
all in all, it's been a busy stretch. i'll try to post a little more this week...
