i am so proud of the two men in my life!
first, i am proud of my husband, who began the summer committed to exercising and who, after a high cholesterol scare at his physical, has followed a strict diet for the last two weeks. the results of healthy eating, lots of sit-ups and miles of running late at night? down seven pounds and a belt notch smaller already. with absolutely no cheating or midnight nilla wafers (his downfall :). because he has serious heart disease in his family, he wants to make sure he's around as long as he can be for us! we love you, daddy!
secondly, i am proud of my sweet small boy, who is now wearing underwear all the time except when asleep. he's been so good about "telling us" when he has to "pee-pee in the potty." and he's down to only one or two accidents a day, which seems pretty good to me after less than a week of our hard-core immersion training. of course, one of them did happen in the middle of the floor at church, but i couldn't be upset. he's trying so hard to control his little bladder! i told him to tell his pee-pees to wait until he's sitting on the potty, so he tells them - out loud! "hold on, pee-pees! wait, pee-pees! ok, pee-pees. you can come out now."
i have this silly little jingle stuck in my head - i really think it's from that movie "look who's talking" - you know, the one from the 80's where the babies have adult voices? anyway, there's a potty training scene where they trot around the house chanting,"pee-pee in the pot-tay! pee-pee in the pot-tay!" so sunny and i sing that together as we run to the toilet.
many times a day.
honestly, i'm finding potty training to be more fun- and funnier - than i thought. :)
it's about time SOMETHING turned out to be more fun than it's supposed to be!
