kindergarten insight

this year, i am blessed that sunny's kindergarten teacher at sterling is also a close friend of mine.  i've known her for nine years now, as a coworker and then as a friend.  it is so nice that even though we are at a new school, and i don't know the other parents or teachers, i have at least one familiar face - and it's the one i see the most.

like most parents, i like to talk about my children.  so it shouldn't surprise anyone that when she and i talk on the phone, the conversation eventually drifts around to my son.

"he's a very intense little boy," she told me today.
and, in the next breath, "there's a lot in him that reminds me of you."

funny that jon always says the same thing.  and while i know that he's my sensitive, emotional child, i have a hard time matching his high-energy, sister wrestling, sofa jumping, one-track fixating little personality with my own.

maybe i shouldn't.  i think the reason we clash so much is that we are so similar - in a crazy, emotional, often irrational kind of way. and while intense isn't a word i've used to describe him before, it suits him to a t.

and now i wonder: does that mean it also suits me?
