these are some pics of some of my favorite vacation memories. my cousin, whitney (though he is closer to my parents' age than mine) has a lovely new house and a boat on a river/sound near the coast in nc. we stayed with them for a night, and they took us out on the "river" (which connects to the ocean quite nearby) in the morning. we followed dolphins, waded on a sandbank, and played with their three grandkids (not far from my kids' ages.)
i have been thinking about them, and all of my north carolina coastal relatives, as irene approaches. my aunt's beach house is actually on the outer banks, and their island has been evacuated...
i am praying that their houses weather irene with no damage - as far as i know, everyone has gone farther inland to be safe.
in the meantime, here are some pictures of sunnier skies... :)
