many of you know the story of how, the day after sunny turned three, i handed him his underwear. "three-year-olds don't wear diapers," i explained, listing all of the three-and-ups we knew who had graduated to underwear.
"really, mommy?" my newly-turned-three son asked. and wore the underwear from then on with no complaints. and almost no accidents.
sailor, on the other hand, is not very happy with this so-successful-the-first-time plan. oh, she wears the underwear all right. she just is happy to use them the same way she would use a diaper. there is no holding or waiting for pee-pees - i guess princesses can't be bothered with little things like potties. no matter how many times i sit her on there during the day (and she does go pee-pee in the potty, if she happens to need to go while we're there), inevitably there comes a time when she needs to go and is not in the bathroom. oh, well! who needs bathrooms anyway?
when she has wet (or dirtied!) her panties, she takes them off herself and hands them to me, and skips off to her room to fetch a clean pair out of her drawer.
patience, mommy. this is only day five. one can only hope that at some point being wet loses it's fascination.
right?
right?
thus proving again that every child is different. and no mommy has it all figured out. even (ESPECIALLY! ;) me.

:o) Sounds like Sunny was ready & Sailor's not yet. She'll eventually get it... you don't know many 4 year olds who aren't potty trained yet, right? At least she notices when she's wet or dirty!
