it's all about the teeth

yes, the breaking news on this front is about: teeth.
silver has one!! a cute little biter on her bottom gum.
that's the good news.
the bad news? she has about three others that i can see all coming in at the same time. and while my other two weren't so cranky with teething...
she is.

more bad teeth news?
at sunny's dentist appointment last friday, i learned that he has three (THREE) cavities. at four years old. i didn't have a cavity until after high school. this knowledge (and finding out how much it will cost to fill them) has been truly devastating to me. don't laugh, i know, perspective and all. but cavities are really and truly preventable. and i have been brushing teeth regularly, not serving milkshakes for breakfast (much :), never allowing my children to drink sodas or eat many sweets. so how do you explain my preschooler needing a silver cap on his baby tooth?

sigh.

so now i am the tooth nazi. we brush three times each day and don't drink juice at all. and i'm sure some day soon you'll read a post about our cavity filling experience. sounds lovely, doesn't it?

but sunny is so good and sweet about it all. i'm sure i'm giving him awful complexes. but he asks: "is this good for my teeth?" and "do i need to brush teeth now?" and never complains when i scrub his gums for at least two minutes at a time. :)

he'll probably grow up into a sugar-phobe who brushes his teeth after every meal.
but at least he won't have any more cavities!

Oh, I'm so sorry!

One thing to remember is that a lot of tooth health seems to be just plain genetics. Don't be so hard on yourself. :)

If he's going to have issues, being a sugar-aphob is a good one to have! :o)
